Who am I?
Why I Teach English?
I am a proud Georgia native with a passion for reading and exploring the world. While I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, my favorite destination is a beautiful beach where I can relax with a good book and enjoy the sounds of the ocean. My pastimes also include shopping and taking care of my three dogs, Rocky, Lola, and Carolyn.
Reading has always been one of my greatest joys. My literary collection began with Junie B. Jones in first grade. Other childhood collection favorites include A Series of Unfortunate Events, Goosebumps, Fear Street, Harry Potter, and so many more. Later in life, I gained an appreciation for Shakespeare, Flannery O’Connor, and other classic authors. In recent years, I have enjoyed reading horror, particularly works by Stephen King. Reading has always been an important part of my life, and it has shaped both who I am and the teacher I strive to be.
I teach English Language Arts because I want to inspire students the way my teacher inspired me. I believe reading opens doors to new ideas, perspectives, and opportunities, while writing gives students the confidence to express themselves and find their own voices. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel encouraged, challenged, and supported as they develop the literacy skills they need for success in school and beyond. Above all, I hope to foster in my students the same lifelong love of reading, writing, and learning that has guided my own journey.
